Longer, Wider, Taller the Nissan Kicks 2025 Makes its Canadian Premiere

The new 2025 Nissan Kicks redefines the compact crossover segment, offering advanced technologies, impressive versatility, and intelligent all-wheel drive for greater confidence on the road. Nissan invited us to test drive this new model in Quebec City.

All-Wheel Drive and Driving Modes

The Kicks is available in S and SV trims with optional all-wheel drive, while the SR Premium trim comes standard with AWD. This provides enhanced control across various terrains and weather conditions. A "snow mode" optimizes power distribution for better grip on slippery surfaces, while yaw control uses braking to keep the vehicle on course.

Bold Design

The 2025 Kicks features bold end expressive lines that mark a significant departure from its predecessor. The lower body showcases pronounced fenders and a distinctive profile, while the upper section is more streamlined. At the rear, a subtle roof spoiler and full-width LED taillights enhance the modern look. The textured side skirts with a complex three-dimensional design add contemporary flair to the vehicle's aesthetics.

More Space and Practicality

The 2025 Kicks maximizes interior space for passenger comfort while maintaining a compact size. Compared to the 2024 version, it offers more shoulder and knee room, making trips more pleasant for all passengers. The flexible cargo space reaches 849.5 liters with the seats up and 1,699.6 liters when they are folded down. A hidden compartment under the floor and an adjustable floor (available on SV and SR Premium trims) optimize storage.

Connectivity and Infotainment

The Kicks comes equipped with a standard 12.3-inch color touchscreen infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offer wireless connectivity and perform seamlessly. The SR Premium trim features a Bose® Personal Plus audio system with 10 speakers, including speakers integrated into the passenger's headrest for an immersive sound experience that is truly remarkable!

Safety and Driver Assistance Technologies

All Kicks models come equipped with Nissan’s Safety Shield 360, which includes automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and high-beam assist. Intelligent Cruise Control is standard on the S and SV models, while the SR Premium package features ProPILOT Assist, which helps keep the vehicle centered in its lane for easier highway driving.

Other practical features include tire pressure monitoring with alerts, rear door alerts, and driver fatigue warnings. The SR Premium’s Intelligent Around View Monitor provides a 360-degree view to simplify parking. A side mirror camera on the passenger side offers added visibility when navigating tight parking spaces or avoiding large obstacles on rural roads.

Modern and Practical Interior

The interior of the Kicks is designed to offer a welcoming and modern environment, in contrast with its bold exterior. The dashboard features a dual-screen setup, including a standard 7-inch gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch screen on the SR Premium model. The flat-bottom steering wheel and center console with large-capacity cupholders add both convenience and modernity.

The front and rear seats feature Zero Gravity design, promoting comfort on long journeys by reducing fatigue. The SR Premium model includes sleek touch controls for climate settings and red stitching for a sporty touch. An optional panoramic sunroof brings in light and minimizes wind noise thanks to an innovative design. We tested it, and indeed, it is remarkably quiet.

Efficient and Responsive Engine

The 2025 Kicks is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 141 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, paired with Nissan’s Xtronic transmission, offering smooth and responsive acceleration, particularly useful for overtaking.

Driving Impression

While hard acceleration can be a bit noisy, the engine is generally quiet. The handling is good, and it’s worth noting that this version of the Kicks is built on its own CMF-B platform specifically designed for the Americas. This means it’s not an adapted sedan or SUV chassis but rather a platform developed for this vehicle.

Trim Options

Buyers can choose between three models: S, SV, and SR Premium, each offering a range of equipment and options to suit individual preferences. The starting price is $27,199 for the front-wheel-drive S version and $29,199 with all-wheel drive. The front-wheel-drive SV version is priced at $28,749, and the all-wheel-drive version is $30,749. The SR Premium trim, which is well-equipped, costs $34,899. Buyers can choose from six monochromatic paints as well as six two-tone paint options.
