German automaker Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that its 2026 CLA models will be offered as fully electric versions or with 48-volt mild hybrid systems. These new vehicles will stand apart from the EQ series thanks to a new platform, the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA), designed to accommodate a wider range of powertrains.

At the same time, the automaker’s AMG performance division will launch its own lineup of electric vehicles. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce fully electric versions of three of its most popular models over the next two years.

However, while the brand initially planned for a full transition to electric vehicles by 2030, it decided to slow this shift in certain markets. Mercedes-Benz states that not all of its vehicles will become electric in the short term, as internal combustion engine production is expected to continue well beyond the next decade.
